Abstract:

The protective effect of a L-type calcium channel blocker, nimodipine, on cell injury induced by oxygen-glucose deprivation (OGD) in PC12 cells was investigated. PC12 cells were exposed to in-vitro oxygen-glucose deprivation (30 minutes and 60 minutes respectively) in the presence or absence of nimodipine (10mM/L) in three different time schedules (pre-24h, pre-3h and concurrently). Cellular viability was assessed by MTT assay. OGD-induced cell injury was significantly attenuated by nimodipine in all three treatment schedules. Application of MK801 (10mM/L), an antagonist of NMDA glutamate receptors also inhibited PC12 cell death by OGD method. Our study suggests that nimodipine has protective effects against OGD-induced neurotoxicity.

Protective Effect of Diospyros kaki against Glucose-Oxygen-Serum Deprivation-Induced PC12 Cells Injury

Ischemic cerebrovascular disease is one of the most common causes of death in the world. Recent interests have been focused on natural antioxidants and anti-inflammatory agents as potentially useful neuroprotective agents. Diospyros kaki (persimmon) has been shown to exert anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antineoplastic effects. However, its effects on ischemic damage have not been evaluated...

protective effect of 25mg-porphyrin-fullerene nanoparticles on oxygen-glucose deprivation/reperfusion injury in pc12 cells

we investigated the effects of 25 mg-porphyrin-fullerene nanoparticles, ( 25 mgpmc16) smart ferroporphyrin nanoparticles, on pc12 cells exposed to oxygen-glucose deprivation/reperfusion. in order to explore its effect on cells under oxygen-glucose deprivation conditions, the cultures were pretreated with 25 mgpmc16 24 hours prior to oxygen-glucose deprivation/reperfusion. to initiate the oxygen...

Huperzine B protects rat pheochromocytoma cells against oxygen-glucose deprivation-induced injury.

AIM To test the ability of huperzine B (HupB) to alleviate injury from oxygen-glucose deprivation (OGD) in the rat pheochromocytoma line PC12 cells. METHODS After OGD for 3 h and reoxygenation for 24 h, neuronal morphology was observed by phase-contrast microscopy; cell survival was quantified by the reduction of MTT; malondialdehyde (MDA) was determined by the thiobarbituric acid; superoxide...

Decorin protects human hepatoma HepG2 cells against oxygen-glucose deprivation via modulating autophagy.

This study is to investigate the effects of decorin (DCN) on human hepatoma HepG2 cells under oxygen-glucose deprivation (OGD) condition. HepG2 cells were cultured under OGD condition. CCK-8 assay was used to assess the cell survival, and flow cytometry was performed to detect the apoptosis. Protein expression levels were detected with Western blot analysis. Transfection was performed with lipo...
